We’re a small team, and we take the time to get to know you and your tastes. So, for better or worse, we all get to know each other.
We don’t employ locums, so Adam is the only optometrist you’ll see.
We offer continuity, which is in stark contrast to the mentality of the chain stores where staff are changing every five minutes and you get someone new checking your eyes each time – sometimes even a different person checking each eye.
No optician with any pride would stock Luxottica products. They’re mass market, overpriced, over-marketed and over-stocked (by over eighteen thousand of their own retail outlets including Sunglass Hut, LensCrafters, Vision Express and Ray-Ban, as well as an undisclosed amount of other opticians who should be ashamed of themselves!)
For further anti-Luxottica ranting, please read this.
Following their merger with Luxottica in 2017, EssilorLuxottica and their myriad of smaller brands control the vast majority of the worldwide optical market, using killer and predatory acquisition to eliminate competition.
Yes, Essilor may have invented the varifocal, but subsequent brands have improved upon their designs and overtaken them, even if they don’t have the deep pockets for hype-marketing.
Adam has invested heavily in instrumentation and equipment, from the Nidek refraction system and the OCT retinal scanner, to the latest Dry Eye diagnostic instruments such as a new Meibomian gland imaging camera and treatments including IPL and Low-Level Light Therapy.
Advanced contrast sensitivity testing and retinal thickness evaluation over time enhance our partnerships with ophthalmologists to assist their diagnoses and patient management.
Included in every eye exam is the ZEISS iProfiler, which creates a highly accurate focus map to create bespoke lenses resulting in astounding levels of optical clarity.
Another specialist instrument is the Cerium Colorimeter that analyses colour to determine the precise tint for optimal visual comfort and to reduce visual stress, common amongst dyslexics and people with autism.
Adam routinely receives referrals from doctors, other opticians and ophthalmologists where others have struggled, primarily with specialist multifocal lenses and Dry Eye.
As one of only a handful of specialists with the appropriate instrumentation, Adam provides shared support with ophthalmologists by performing IPL and Low-Level Light Therapy.

We stock a wide range of single-focus lenses and have the ability to produce new glasses within the hour.
More sophisticated lenses take longer, but we’re happy to provide temporary ones if you’re desperate at no additional charge.
Experience is a double-edged sword. Adam qualified in the dark ages, when it was called Ophthalmic Optics, not Optometry. Yes, he’s old enough to have (considerably) over thirty years’ experience under his belt, but young enough to be staving off dementia.
Optometrists are obliged to complete many hours of CPD, Continued Professional Development, so we regularly attend seminars and lectures to ensure that we’re up-to-date with all of the latest advances in ophthalmology, dry eye techniques and lens design.
We value our independence, meaning that we can supply products, including frames and lenses, from any supplier, according to what is most appropriate, rather than any instructions from Head Office.
Being truly independent means being free of any restrictions imposed by others. This allows us to be the best that we can.
For what it means to Adam to be independent, please read this article.
If you don’t need glasses, or your prescription hasn’t changed, or you’d be better off doing eye exercises, that’s what we’ll tell you.
Despite what people might think about Primrose Hill prices, all of our frames and lenses are at manufacturer’s suggested prices.
