FAQ & Privacy

All products shown for sale are in stock and available for immediate despatch.

We’ll send them same day if ordered before 2pm. Otherwise it will be next working day. See below for shipping methods and delivery times.

If you’d like your prescription put into the frames, tick the Quote for Prescription Lenses checkmark and we’ll contact you to discuss options.

Delivery
Single-focus lenses typically take an additional two days. We’ll contact you once they arrive with us to keep you updated on delivery times.

Lens Types
In-person measurements need to be taken for multifocals and other complex lenses or strong prescriptions. If you can come to us for measurements, great. Otherwise, you’ll have to buy the frame only and have the lenses made locally.

Prescription Details
It would be helpful if you could have your latest prescription to hand, or you could email or WhatsApp it.

Prescription Validity
As long as you’ve had your eyes last checked within two years, it will be valid. If outside this period, we’ll be very happy to do a new eye exam or, if not possible, have it done closer to home.

Tints
We can make prescription lenses with a tint, either by matching the original lenses or by making them to a standard dark level.

Best to discuss options over the phone. 020 7813 1234.

Under 18s

By law, we’re not allowed to dispense prescription lenses to under 18s. We can still supply frames, but you’ll have to have lenses made in-person.

All items for sale on our website are in stock, so we aim to despatch same day.

The cut-off time for UPS is 2pm. All orders received after 2pm will be despatched the following working day. We tend to use WhatsApp for updates, so please ensure that you supply us with your mobile number and save our details.

UK
Free next-day shipping. We use UPS for domestic deliveries. If you’re within 10 miles of us, we’ll use a same-day courier.

EUROPE
£20 using UPS Worldwide. Usually 3-5 days.

REST OF THE WORLD
£35 using UPS Worldwide. Usually 3-5 days.

Returns & Refunds

You have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving it, and then a further 14 days to return the item.

To qualify for a refund:

  • Items must be unused, unworn and returned in their original packaging (including case, cloth and tags).
  • You must include proof of purchase (order number or receipt).
  • Return postage, which must be sent recorded and tracked, is your responsibility unless the item is faulty or sent in error.

Once we’ve received and inspected your return, we’ll refund the product price to your original payment method within 7 working days.

Bespoke or Prescription Orders

Custom-made products, including spectacles fitted with prescription lenses, are exempt from standard change-of-mind returns under UK law.

If you’re unhappy with the fit, comfort or vision, please contact us and we’ll do our best to resolve the issue through adjustments, replacements or store credit at our discretion.

Faulty or Damaged Goods

If your item arrives faulty, damaged or not as described:

  • Contact us within 7 days of delivery.
  • We will repair, replace or refund the item at no cost to you.
  • For issues arising within six months, we will assess the item in line with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

  2. We’ll confirm eligibility and send instructions for posting your item.

Our promise

We value your privacy as much as we value great eyewear. We only collect what we need, we keep it secure, and we never sell your personal data. This notice explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

What this notice covers

This notice applies to personal data we process when you browse our website, contact us, book services, or purchase products in-store or online.

The personal data we collect
  • Identity & contact: name, title, date of birth, email, phone, billing/delivery addresses.
  • Order & account: order history, login details (hashed), preferences, communications with us.
  • Prescription data: details you provide for optical services (e.g., prescription, PD) when relevant.
  • Payment: last four digits/token, payment status. We don’t store full card details.
  • Technical: IP address, device/browser type, pages viewed, time on page, and similar analytics.
  • Marketing preferences: your choices about emails or messages from us.
How we get it
  • Directly from you when you browse, create an account, buy, book, email or call us.
  • Automatically via cookies/analytics when you use our site (see Cookies below).
Why we use your data (lawful bases)
  • Contract: to take payment, fulfil and deliver your order, provide support, and manage your account.
  • Legitimate interests: to run and improve our site and services, prevent fraud, and personalise your experience in ways you’d reasonably expect.
  • Consent: for non-essential cookies/analytics and for sending marketing where consent is required. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligations: for things like tax, accounting and product safety records.
Payments and service partners

We use reputable providers to operate our business (for example: payment processors, couriers, website hosting, email/SMS services, analytics). They act on our instructions as “processors” and must keep your data secure. For payments, you’re redirected to our provider’s secure page – our staff never see or store your full card details.

Marketing (your choices)

We’d like to keep you informed about new frames, lenses, services and events. We’ll only send marketing where the law allows (consent or legitimate interest). You can opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link in our messages or by emailing info@adamsimmonds.co.uk. We’ll still send essential service emails about your orders or appointments.

Cookies & analytics

Cookies help our site work and help us understand how it’s used. We only use non-essential cookies (e.g., analytics) with your consent. You can change your cookie settings via our banner or your browser at any time. Blocking non-essential cookies won’t break checkout, but some features may not behave perfectly.

  • Essential: security, checkout, account sign-in.
  • Analytics (consent): to understand visits and improve the site.
International transfers

Some providers may process data outside the UK/EEA. Where that happens, we use approved safeguards (e.g., UK IDTA/EU SCCs and, where needed, risk assessments) to keep your data protected.

How long we keep your data

We keep data only as long as necessary: for orders and warranties, for legal/accounting requirements, and to resolve queries. After that, we securely delete or anonymise it.

Keeping your data safe

We use a mix of organisational and technical measures to protect your data, including TLS/SSL encryption in transit, access controls, and staff training. No system is perfect, but we work hard to keep risks low.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you can:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Delete your data in certain circumstances.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Port your data to another provider where applicable.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise your rights, email info@adamsimmonds.co.uk. We’ll respond within one month (or let you know if more time is needed for complex requests). We may ask for proof of identity.

Children

Our products aren’t marketed to children. If you’re under 18, please use the site with a parent or guardian.

Sharing data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted processors (see “Payments and service partners”) or where the law requires us to (for example, fraud prevention, regulatory bodies).

Complaints

If you’re unhappy about how we handle your data, please contact us first at info@adamsimmonds.co.uk and we’ll do our best to resolve it. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.

Our pricing is strictly RRP (recommended retail price) including VAT. Spectacle frames have a lower than standard VAT rate of 8%. The VAT is automatically removed for deliveries outside the United Kingdom.

Please note that your local customs authority may apply import duties or taxes when your order arrives. These are payable by the recipient, and we’re unable to influence or estimate these charges in advance.

All the brands that we supply place great emphasis on ensuring that each product strictly adheres to quality standards and have passed all necessary technical and aesthetic checks.

Warranties vary according to brand.

Jacques Marie Mage
JMM’s warranty guarantees that should any part of your frame be found defective in either material or manufacture, it will be repaired or replaced at no cost within one year of the delivery date. If you reside in the EU, their warranty is honoured for two years from the date of delivery, but this does not preclude applicable law.

If your product is declared defective by us and meets the one-year warranty criteria from the delivery date, we offer the following solutions to the customer or gift recipient, as applicable:

We may send you the same product subject to availability; or, JMM may propose an exchange for another item of equivalent or higher value, in which case the initial price will be deducted, and, if applicable, you will be required to pay only the difference.

JMM’s warranty does not cover scratched lenses due to normal wear and tear or damage caused by mishandling, accidents, or unauthorised repair or alteration. It is important to understand that items damaged due to wear and tear are not considered defective.
